My client is an national electricity company and one of the largest investor-owned Energy companies in the world. They play a vital role in delivering electricity to many millions of people across Great Britain and North-Eastern US in an efficient, reliable and safe manner.
About the role
The Transmission Network Control Centre (TNCC) is truly on the front line of what we do. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team responsible for the real-time operation of the National Electricity Transmission System managing everything from routine maintenance to storms and wildfires across all of England and Wales.
Playing a pivotal role in ensuring that the network is managed effectively and alarms received into the TNCC are dealt with, applying the appropriate engineering response.
Full training is provided and you will need to achieve the correct response authorisation level before being assigned responsibilities in the TNCC.
The TNCC feeds into a variety of sub-stations across the country that have various alarms that show in the control room which is manned 24/7. The purpose of the desk is to respond to system alarms that they monitor - most electrical alarms but could be mechanical.
You will be expected to interpret the nature of the alarm and arrange engineers to attend in the field to fulfil the task.
What you'll need
* An electrical background or experience of working in a control room environment or other relevant operations or engineering experience.
* An understanding of how asset and network monitoring systems create indications and alarms.
* The ability to work in a process orientated environment ensuring we carry out our role with a fierce focus on safety.
* Good logical, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and be organised.
* To be a team player, with the ability to motivate, encourage and work with other control room personnel, joining a team of around 70 staff and managers.
