Location: Stockport, SK12 1YL.
Salary: £16/hour depending on experience.
Contract: Full time, 40 hours per week, permanent.
Wymbs Engineering Limited is a family business founded some thirty years ago. The company is located in Stockport in the North West of England, only a 35-minute drive from Manchester airport.
From a small fabrication workshop, servicing and upgrading “worn out” machinery in the bakery and confectionery industries, Wymbs Engineering has grown to occupy a leading role today as manufacturers of a unique range of pressurised manifold depositing systems for light, aerated and delicate masses, as well as bespoke processing lines for the chilled foods sector such as cream doughnut and chocolate éclair lines, injection systems for choux buns and cream slice lines.
We are now recruiting for a Manufacturing / Assembly Technician to join our growing team.
Manufacturing / Assembly Technician – Responsibilities:
• Working with workshop supervisor to get machined and bought out components ready for assembly
• Finish assembly of multiple part assemblies
• Benchwork, deburring of machined components
• Grinding and polishing of welded components
• Assist in finished machine testing
• Assist in running in house product trials
• Boxing up and shipping for machine or spare parts dispatch
• Practical help to manage material flow through workshop
• Documentation of processes (new and existing)
• Documentation of time and costs taken
• Quality checking components for any defects and alert our shop foreman to any assembly issues.
• Perform general workshop housekeeping duties as required.
What we need from you:
The successful candidate will have prior experience working in this type of environment and an awareness of engineering drawings, solid model/assembly cross examination is required to assemble movement mechanisms and understand their principles.
Experience in rotating machinery assembly. Bearings and power transmission (belts, pulleys, linier rails, ballscrew/leadscrew). A knowledge of pumps and motor/gearbox set-up. Assembly of close fitting and tight tolerance machined components. Conveyor assemblies and set ups.
Ideal candidates will be time-served and educated to NVQ level 3 or HNC in an engineering discipline or have past relevant experience.
The tasks will be varied daily, ranging from organising raw material, bought in items and machined parts for company contracts against a bill of materials or finishing and inspection of machined items.
