Overview

Our client is one of the largest and fastest growing environmental consultancies in the world. From their large network of UK offices, their award-winning team of Water Engineering professionals, lead projects across a range of activities including river & coastal defence, surface water management, sustainable urban drainage design and flood alleviation schemes.

I addition to a variety of major long-term frameworks that they currently support across the UK, their hard work has culminated in the award of the Better Rivers framework by United Utilities, within which they will lead the design and project management of numerous schemes to improve our rivers across the Region.

As a result, they are seeking passionate and ambitious Wastewater (Hydraulic) Modellers to join their teams in Manchester,Chorley, Leeds and Cumbria. In additional to the Better Rivers framework, you would also have the chance to be involved with a broad spectrum of projects as part of the prestigious AMP8 programme leading into AMP9 and beyond.

About the role

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Construct, verify, and maintain various levels of wastewater models.
  • Deliver feasibility studies, model use studies, optioneering, and development assessments for wastewater networks.
  • Ensure quality of modelling outputs and compliance with standards, specifications, and governance requirements.
  • Project management of small projects.
  • Maintain strong and collaborative working relationships and interactions with clients.
  • Cooperate and communicate effectively with other team members to provide technical support and assistance.
  • Operate in accordance with the corporate health and safety, environmental, and quality standards.

About you

Candidates should possess prior experience with projects in urban drainage settings, along with proficiency in InfoWorks ICM and relevant GIS software.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teamwork skills and the capacity to seamlessly integrate into a team dynamic. Additionally, they will have the chance to cultivate their skills as a mentor and offer technical guidance to other modeling personnel, showcasing leadership in urban drainage contexts while prioritising exceptional client service.

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:
  • You will be expected to demonstrate relevant experience in modelling either a consultancy or water company.
  • You will be expected to have proficiency in Excel and Visual Basic.
  • Proficient in modelling software using InfoWorks ICM and associated bolt-on packages.
  • Working knowledge of GIS Systems (preferably MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Skilled in the manipulation and handling of large datasets.
  • You will have demonstrable experience in discipline-specific data analysis packages, which may be water-focused such as InfoWorks or InfoAsset.
  • General understanding of the UK water industry.
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills. An IMechE accredited degree.
  • Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership for Senior or Principal grades.
  • Affiliation with a professional institution like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or in the process of working towards membership and nearing application.
