We currently have an opportunity for an Outage Lead to join our team to support our nuclear sites.

Suitable candidates will be required to travel across our 8 EDF sites based on operational needs.

Key Objectives:

  • Lead and manage statutory outages across various nuclear facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards and governance.
  • Oversee resource mobilisation and demobilisation efficiently.
  • Manage Industrial Relations (IR) aspects effectively to maintain smooth operations.

Main Activities:

  • Plan and prepare for statutory outages, ensuring all activities are meticulously scheduled and resourced.
  • Manage resources to safely execute the outage plan, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Address and manage any emergent work promptly and effectively, minimising disruptions.
  • Handle budgets ranging from £3.5M to £7M, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in outage management, preferably within the nuclear sector.
  • IOSH certification or higher.

Key Relationships:

  • Station Directors & Plant Managers: Collaborate to ensure alignment of outage activities with operational requirements and objectives.
  • Contract Managers: Work closely to ensure contract terms are met and managed effectively.
  • Altrad Management Team: Coordinate and communicate regularly to ensure strategic objectives and operational goals are achieved.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and lead diverse teams.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive understanding of QHSE standards and the ability to ensure compliance.
  • Financial acumen to manage significant budgets effectively.


Candidates that are eligible for the position will be required to undergo CTC clearance or already possess this.
