This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to unite specialist pharmaceutical insight with key administrative responsibilities. You'll be supporting Part IX processes by evaluating medical device applications and providing an efficient secretariat function for the DHSC Part IX Independent Advisory Panels, all of which ultimately contribute to NHS patient care.You should be highly motivated and skilled at managing your own workload, with a strong background in community pharmacy or other NHS settings. You'll need the ability to analyse complex information, applying sound judgement to formulate effective solutions. Strong communication skills and a persuasive and diplomatic approach are essential. The post holder will need to be flexible and responsive, and able to handle sensitive NHS and government matters with discretion. You'll coordinate meetings, prepare and distribute materials, maintain governance and confidentiality standards, and capture clear and accurate minutes of decisions and actions. Alongside this, you'll process and evaluate applications from manufacturers and suppliers for the listing of their medical devices within Part IX of the NHS England and Wales Drug Tariff. This will also include the collection, processing, and monitoring of information related to products within Part IX, and ensuring their correct representation within the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d).In this role you will work closely with other pharmacy specialists and technical colleagues, and with external stakeholders such as DHSC policy leads and IAP clinical experts. Liaising with DHSC colleagues, Part IX IAP members, and other internal and external stakeholders, regarding Part IX applications and related processes. For example, to clarify requirements, relay information, and answer queries or information requests escalating when appropriate to senior Part IX Pharmacy Specialists or the DHSC policy team.2. Assisting senior Part IX staff in activities undertaken on behalf of the DHSC and ensuring effective communication regarding medical devices, which may be complicated and/or controversial, is undertaken with Community Pharmacy England, manufacturers, suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders.3. Using pharmaceutical knowledge to research and compile information to inform the content of the Drug Tariff and the dm+d. Supporting patient care by ensuring this information is accurate and therefore enabling the correct decisions are made on the available devices. Examining a variety of information sources and identifying any necessary amendments/additions/deletions. Inputting and quality assuring amended data.4. The evaluation of Part IX medical device applications, including the assessment of the potential impacts on prescribing data, patient care and primary care reimbursement.5. Advising a specialised team of medicines data staff in the day-to- day activities relating to the evaluation of medical devices and their suitability for listing in Part IX of the Drug Tariff and prescribing in primary care6. Providing an efficient secretariat function on behalf of the DHSC, contributing to the success of Part IX Independent Advisory Panels (IAPs) and Part IX renewal and application processes. This includes working closely with IAP clinical experts and DHSC policy leads to complete various operational and administrative tasks alongside the coordination and smooth running of IAPs. Tasks include:i. Ensuring data protection and governance policies are followed, including collation and verification of conflicts of interest, gathering of panel member confidentiality paperwork, and completion of other required documentation.ii. Organising, collating and supplying panel members with correct pre-meeting materials, confirming relevant policies, and planning and scheduling of meetings for panel members.iii. Being a highly skilled minute taker with the ability to capture clear and accurate panel meeting minutes to provide a true reflection of meetings, including decisions, rationale and actions taken. This includes accountability for the driving of actions agreed at panel meetings, and the presentation of minutes for any escalations or appeals.7. The production of reports to assist with the appraisal of Drug Tariff Part IX applications, which may require further consultation with the DHSC, NHS England and other internal and external stakeholders.8. Ensuring internal and external websites are up to date with key service, operational and contact information.9. Demonstrating a commitment to develop flexible matrix working in a non-line management role such that the broad base of skills and experience of all staff are utilised to maximum benefit of the organisation and the individual.10. Participating in organisation-wide working groups appropriate to the post-holders expertise and experience.11. Assisting with both long- and short-term planning within own work area and positively driving forward the development, management and performance of the team in accordance with plans.12. Being responsible for the identification and implementation of policy, procedure, and service developments in support of the NHS BSA Business Strategy and Department of Health and Social Care initiatives.13. Being an authorised signatory for expenditure (requisitions, invoices, expenses and payroll) up to £1,000.14. Day to day non-line management of a group of staff including significant input to appraisal, performance monitoring and Personal Development Plan creation and execution.Person Specification Personal Qualities, Knowledge and Skills Essential Good understanding of the Drug Tariff and NHS reimbursement and remuneration policy within Primary Care. Accurate and organised with the ability to meet stringent deadlines, prioritising and delegating as appropriate. Able to work independently within broad guidelines.
