Position Overview:

We are looking for a qualified Pharmacist to manage our online-only dispensing pharmacy. The successful candidate will be experienced in managing a dispensary team, and possess knowledge and experience related to weight management and the prescription of GLP-1 / GIP medications. This role includes managing a team responsible for dispensing weight management medications, addressing medical queries from patients and supporting our team of remote prescribers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispensing Oversight:
  • Lead the team in dispensing weight management medications.
  • Ensure efficient and accurate dispensing of GLP-1 / GIP medications, such as Wegovy and Mounjaro.
  • Ensure all dispensing activities comply with current medical guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • Regularly review and update all policies and SOPs related to pharmacy operations.


  • Patient Support:
  • Provide medical advice and support to patients concerning their treatment plans and prescriptions.
  • Address medical inquiries and offer guidance on the side effects, benefits, and proper use of prescribed medications.
  • Contribute to the development of CheqUp’s clinical guidelines for weight management medications, together with the prescribing team led by Dr Andrea Pucci
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records for all patients.


  • Team Management:
  • Manage the team of dispensers and trainee dispensers in the Chippenham pharmacy.
  • Conduct periodic appraisals and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with the director to determine team capacity and improve workflows.
  • Manage the recruitment process for new or additional staff as needed.


  • Quality and Safety:
  • Monitor performance across a range of indicators including dispensing timescales and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure safety alerts are appropriately cascaded, and actions implemented.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practice and make appropriate recommendations for implementation.
  • Record and monitor incidents, ensuring learning is cascaded and effectively embedded.
  • Lead the team in conducting audits and quality improvement activities.


  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate closely with the company’s support staff to ensure seamless communication and service delivery.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay informed of the latest medical guidelines and company policies.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Must be a licensed pharmacist with the GPhC.
  • Experience in weight management and the prescribing of GLP-1 / GIP medications, or leading clinics (preferably in endocrinology/diabetes) or working on an endocrinology ward.
  • Strong understanding of medical issues related to weight management.
  • Proven ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
