Accelerate Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled DT (Design and Technology) Technician to join a thriving secondary school in Kirklees. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in the field to support the teaching and learning of DT, helping to inspire the next generation of designers and engineers.
As a DT Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the smooth running of the department. You will assist teachers in delivering high-quality practical lessons, maintain equipment, and ensure health and safety standards are met. This is a hands-on role that requires both technical expertise and the ability to work closely with staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the preparation and delivery of DT lessons, including setting up equipment and materials.
Maintain and organise tools, machinery, and equipment to ensure they are in excellent working order.
Assist in the safe and efficient running of workshops, ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.
Provide technical support to both staff and students during practical sessions.
Assist in the procurement and management of materials, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
Help with the development of resources and materials for teaching.The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working as a DT Technician or in a similar technical support role.
A good understanding of health and safety regulations within a workshop environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A passion for Design and Technology and a commitment to supporting students' learning.
