New Dawn Education is working with a fantastic newly launched alternative provision seeking a Teacher of Agriculture on an ongoing basis, the setting is dedicated to creating an inclusive, nurturing environment for SEN students (Autism, ADHD, complex needs, SEMH) ages 9-16. Based on a farm, the provision was designed to provide an outdoor therapeutic and educational environment where young people with SEND can thrive through a variety of outdoor activities including, Agriculture/Horticulture, Animal Care and Handling, Beekeeping, Woodworking, Arts and Crafts, Sports and GamesAgriculture Teacher Role
As a teacher of Agriculture, you will be responsible for educating students on the knowledge and skills involved in the production of food, fibre and other agricultural products. You will need to plan and deliver lessons both in person and via an online platform, assess students’ work and provide guidance and support for students in their studies.
Agriculture Teacher Duties
* Plan and deliver lessons to students
* Develop and implement teaching programmes
* Assess and record student performance
* Provide pastoral care and guidance
* Develop resources and materials to aid teaching
* Keep up to date with developments in the subject
Agriculture Teacher Skills & Requirements
* A relevant teaching qualification, and experience in agriculture
* Comfortable teaching SEN students ages 9-16 (Autism, ADHD, SEMH)
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum
* Good classroom management and organisational skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of agriculture and horticulture
* Able to teach students in an engaging and interactive way
* Ability to use farm machinery and tools
* Ability to monitor student performance and assess progress
* Facilitate group sessions for students with SEND
