We are a motivated and highly professional team and are looking for an individual committed to excellence in their work and with a passion for details. You will assist in all aspects of business rates billing, collection and recovery and will also have interaction with customers e.g., face to face, telephone and in writing.
What will you be doing?
- Undertaking all aspects of revenues business rates work including: - billing, valuation work, recovery, freedom of information requests, Business Rates avoidance issues, maximising income, plus direct customer contact and attendance at court for both East Herts and Stevenage Councils.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of new working methods and systems.
- Keeping and maintaining appropriate records and statistics, reviewing exception reports and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Assisting with the preparation of cases for court and Tribunals, providing support at such hearings as appropriate.
About you
As an ideal candidate, you will have:
- Either an extensive knowledge of Business Rates law and procedures or an in-depth knowledge of Revenues legislation and procedures.
- The ability to deal with challenging situations using tact and diplomacy.
- Experience in a busy administration role within an office environment.
- Competency in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience of working with multiple stakeholders from the public and private sector.
- The ability to motivate people around them.
