Our client is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to join our team in Rugeley, you will be responsible for successfully managing a portfolio of projects, providing effective leadership to achieve customer requirements and business goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of projects, providing effective leadership to Project Managers to achieve customer requirements and business goals.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, team members, and peers to establish a common understanding of programme performance and plan for successful programme execution.
  • Work closely with the Program Finance team to meet key financial objectives and ensure clear and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prioritise, coordinate, and plan project portfolio activities to achieve all agreed business objectives and delivery milestones.
  • Provide an escalation route for project issues, risks, and key decisions.
  • Lead the preparation of bids, including the provision of accurate cost and schedule information.
  • Provide oversight and governance to ensure effective project planning, programme execution, evaluation, and management of project risks.
  • Monitor the team by communicating a shared vision, providing direction, setting goals, and mentoring.
  • Liaise with other functional leads within the business to enable strong cross-functional communication and joint decision-making.
  • Support the Supply Chain team in identification, management, and development of key subcontracts and suppliers.


Qualifications / Skills Required:

  • Experienced Programme Manager with a successful track record in setting up and executing full lifecycle product development.
  • Degree level education in Business/Engineering.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of best practice in Project Management techniques.
  • Previous experience within a comparable role within a similar industry.
  • Previous experience of successfully leading and managing a team.
  • Experience of the commercial elements of project management, including managing contracts and supporting bids & proposals.
  • High commercial and business awareness, customer focus, and sales orientation.
  • APM Chartered Project Professional or equivalent qualification is desirable.
  • Experience of managing multi-disciplined projects with a focus on systems engineering and integration is highly desirable.
  • Background in the Defence industry is desirable, particularly experience of working within SSRO regulations.
