Job Description


About This Role

The Medical Science Liaison role provides field-based medical / scientific expertise ensuring understanding of the disease area and Biogen biosimilar products. They are integral to building valued, constructive partnerships with key stakeholders in the medical community and the healthcare system. The MSL contributes to company success through both internal and external medical education and medical/scientific information exchange and support. The MSL utilises their medical/scientific expertise to gather medical insights and to support research and data generation initiatives.

The MSL contributes to part of brand planning process and development of MSL led activities due to their extensive knowledge of the therapy area and competitor environment.

The expectation is that the role will include both face to face interactions with customers and engaging with customers virtually and via digital channels.

What You'll Do

External Focus
  • Acts as a trusted and credible scientific discussion partner by engaging in scientific / medical exchange with HCPs / stakeholders
  • Outlined below are the possible activities that may be undertaken by an MSL at Biogen:
o Proactive, broad discussion around relevant disease areas

o Acting as a technical expert on company products

o Proactive & reactive education regarding our areas of therapeutic interest

o Respond to enquiries from members of the health professions or other relevant stakeholders

o Legitimate exchange of medical and scientific information during the development of a medicine

o Organising educational events at which internal and external speakers discuss relevant disease area information

o Gather medical insights to inform the medical strategy

o Coordinate sponsored research agreements/investigator initiated trials in the assigned geographic area

Internal Focus
  • Be a contributing member of the UKI biosimilars team working cross functionally with other functions
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the medical plan (e.g. advisory boards, medical education, and peer-to-peer training activities)
  • Develop and update medical scientific content relevant for external engagement
  • Contribute to the successful launch and maintenance of Biogen biosimilar products
  • Support the development and support of national disease registries and attend medical congresses as appropriate
  • Build and deliver a scientific collaboration/engagement plan
  • Report medical insights and provide feedback to the local & regional/global medical team
Who You Are

You are a highly accomplished individual who has significant expertise in key therapeutic areas, particularly within Medical Affairs or the pharmaceutical industry. Your career showcases excellence in Medical Science Liaison (MSL) roles and you possess an array of skills, encompassing scientific proficiency, comprehension of drug development, etc.


Qualifications


Required Skills
  • BSc; Advanced degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP in medical specialty) or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Experience in a key therapeutic areas Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology and/or Ophthalmology
  • Experience as an MSL. Has demonstrated MSL behaviors and acquired knowledge, skills/competencies to the degree expected at this job level
Desirable
  • Scientific experience in Biogen therapeutic area
  • An understanding of drug development through clinical research
  • Understanding of health economics
  • Technical knowledge in Immunology, Ophthalmology (or related field)
  • Proven expertise in working with and within local regulations and code of practice
  • Experience of working with Investigator Initiated Studies
