Design Engineer

Responsibilities:
* Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and company requirements.
* Utilize Catia V5 (surface, solid, and 2D) to design exhaust systems and automotive parts, ensuring alignment with customer CAD and packaging data.
* Create CAD data and drawings for customer approval.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Design Team to meet high-quality objectives within tight deadlines.
* Deliver customer projects within a supportive team structure.
* Design, develop, adjust, and commission tools, jigs, and fixtures for prototype and production use, coordinating their assembly.
* Arrange and monitor the manufacture of prototype parts.
* Review measurement data with the Quality Team to approve or reject first-off parts.
* Update designs, drawings, and jigs/fixtures based on approved parts.
* Apply tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacture/Design for Assembly principles.
* Implement Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) correctly.
* Develop and apply datum structures to components and products.
* Support the Project Manager in meeting development and release targets.
* Present design proposals and project status updates to management.
* Collaborate effectively within a team to achieve optimal outcomes.
* Structure and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Person Specification
* Proficient in Catia V5: Demonstrates thorough working capability in using Catia V5.
* 3D CAD & 2D Drawings: Fully skilled in developing 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings.
* Datum Structure & GD&T: Familiar with BS8888/ASME 14.x standards for datum structure and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
* MS Office Proficiency: Fully conversant with MS Office packages, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
* Self-Motivated: Self-starting with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
* Team Player: Enjoys working as part of a team and actively seeks collaborative solutions.
* Multi-Project Management: Capable of handling and switching between multiple projects as needed.
* Excellent Communication Skills: Possesses strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Problem Solver: Experienced in six-sigma methodologies, including 8D, Ishikawa, and Poka Yoke.
General & Specialist Knowledge
* TS16949 / IATF 16949: Knowledge of these standards is advantageous.
* ISO14001 EMS: Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems is a plus.
* Six Sigma: Training in Six Sigma methodologies is beneficial.
* BS8888 / ASME14.x: Proficient in these standards.
Education & Training
* Qualification: HND or Degree level, ideally in an engineering discipline
