Principal Software Engineer - Hybrid working

Salary up to £110k+ Benefits + Bonus

A Principal Engineer / Staff Engineer is required to join a high performing software engineering department. The company are building on specific product skill sets within their teams due to expansion and require an experienced Principal Engineer / Staff Engineer to lead the tech direction, processes and architecture across key EPOS products.


The Principal Engineer will engage with multiple software engineering projects, including Greenfield work, utilising modern technology to create and deliver EPOS applications used by a massive customer base.


The business offer flexible hybrid working options with 3 days per week WFH - 2 days will be at one of their offices which are in London, Hampshire, Berkshire areas (whichever is preferred).


Responsibilities include:

  • Influence technical architecture and direction across a range of Software products
  • Implement and improve software engineering practices - SOLID principles, etc
  • Play a key role in Software/System architecture, design and delivery
  • Write high quality code (Java, Node or similar) as required
  • Lead Agile project teams


Key experience

  • Passion for using modern technology to create effective and interactive ecommerce or EPOS products
  • Experience in leading Agile teams or projects within Ecommerce, Marketplace, or Retail environments
  • A strong background in software engineering;, Java, Node, AWS, Elasticsearch or similar
  • Experience in technical decision making and software architecture, Event Driven or Microservices is preferred
