About The Role
MES SPEN is recruiting for a SHEQ Advisor to work on our MES SPEN contract in Bellshill.
As the SHEQ Advisor you will be part of our SHEQ Team who are responsible for supporting all aspects of the Safety Management System and ensure that a consistent approach is taken across all areas of the business.
We are committed to working  with SP Energy Networks to deliver significant investments that will benefit hundreds of thousands of customers across Ayrshire, Central and Fife, Dumfries, Lanarkshire and the Edinburgh and Borders areas.
As the SHEQ Advisor your responsibilities will include:
To support the strategic improvement plan for safety, health, environment, and quality within the SPEN contract.
To provide co-ordination, advice, and direction for safety, health, environment, quality, training, and engineering compliance matters to Operations to ensure delivery of legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement.
Specify the requirements for the development of safety, health, environment, quality, and engineering skills within Operations line management.
To support a cultural change programme within the SPEN contract to achieve Zero Harm
To develop processes that ensure consistent implementation of for safety, health, environment, quality, and engineering standards across the SPEN network.
Monitor compliance with MES safety, health, environment, quality and Engineering policies, procedures, and legislation.Skills & Knowledge Requirements
Technical
Good knowledge of appropriate Health & Safety legislation, policy, and procedures. An understanding of Environmental legislation and Engineering procedures.
Ability to implement a process of internal audit & inspection, recommend preventative action, develop new initiatives and co-ordinate to ensure their implementation.
Ability to prepare concise, accurate reports detailing performance against leading and lagging indicators.Interpersonal
Ability to think creatively and support Operations at a strategic and tactical level.
Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all organisational levels and across disciplines, both within MES (SPEN contract), its contracting partners and with external organisations.
Ability to undertake coaching of Operations colleagues regarding SHEQ practices at all levels, to promote understanding and performance improvement by providing timely and constructive direct feedback.
Able to self–motivate and operate with minimum supervision, good communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information
Minimum Qualifications required for role (development will be provided to attain these)
NEBOSH General / Construction, or.
CITB (or equivalent) Health and Safety Course - SMSTS
EUSR SHEA
