Overview:

Finatal have been exclusively mandated by a global, PE backed events business, seeking a Group Financial Controller to run their core finance function. You must have extensive experience of contract accounting, and have worked in an international business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all financial control and technical accounting matters across the Group.
  • Oversee financial operations and controls in different geographical locations to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Take overall responsibility for the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage cash flow and report at an operational level, including overseeing overseas purchasing and payables functions.
  • Handle asset financing relationships and calculations to support business investments and growth.
  • Manage the financial covenant reporting to the primary lender, ensuring compliance and clear communication.
  • Prepare statutory accounts under IFRS and handle any local statutory reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for audit processes and act as the primary liaison with auditors, in conjunction with the CFO.
  • Oversee monthly local payroll and liaise with overseas local payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Manage the AR/AP function and conduct regular reviews to maintain financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure all tax compliance and provide tax advice locally and internationally, in conjunction with external advisors.
  • Produce VAT returns and ensure compliance with VAT and HMRC matters, including CIS (Construction Industry Scheme).
  • Manage the administration of Netsuite to support financial operations.
  • Produce forecasts and budgets in conjunction with the CFO and Head of Management Accounting.
  • Support company secretarial and compliance matters in conjunction with local advisors.
  • Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Lead and contribute to ad hoc project work as required to support business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification, or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, ideally Group level in a PE-backed company.
  • Extensive exposure to consolidated accounting is essential
  • You must have experience in either an events, facilities management or design & build business
  • Strong technical accounting skills and thorough knowledge of IFRS.
  • Experience managing financial operations in a global context.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Prior experience using Netsuite is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
