We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Cinematographer with a strong background in fashion, broadcast production, with a broad range of technical and creative skills. The ideal candidate will be proficient in shooting and directing both solo and as part of a team, able to guide camera and lighting crews, and possess extensive experience in video production, including camera operation, sound recording and design, editing, colour grading and motion graphics. You should have a keen eye for fashion videography and be capable of executing high-quality shoots that align with brand aesthetics, campaign objectives and broadcast standards.

This role requires someone who is equally comfortable working independently, self-directing, planning, shooting and managing production logistics, as well as leading larger teams in complex, multi-camera, and high-production environments as the Director of Photography (DOP) or 1st Camera Operator.



Key Responsibilities


Solo Shooting & Self-Direction

·      Independently plan, shoot, and edit high-quality fashion content, ensuring that the vision and aesthetic align with the brand’s identity and campaign objectives.

·      Oversee all aspects of the production, from conceptualisation to the final edit, including camera operation, lighting setup, sound recording, and post-production.

·      Manage time and resources efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining the highest production values in both video and sound.

·      Utilise technical knowledge to create compelling, cinematic shots that engage, highlight fashion details, textures, movement and tell stories and/or evoke lifestyle suggestions.

·      Represent the agency, acting as a key representative of the agency, maintaining the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and credibility in all interactions. Uphold the agency’s reputation by ensuring that all work is executed to the highest of standards.

·      Handle on-set client feedback and requests with a constructive and positive attitude, ensuring that their vision and needs are met while maintaining the creative direction of the project. Respond to feedback promptly and with flexibility, adapting when necessary to deliver optimal results.

·      Maintain Clear Communication when shooting independently or in solitude, proactively communicate with the team, producers, and client to ensure alignment on expectations, progress, and any potential issues. Maintain open lines of communication to foster collaboration and keep everyone informed on project status.

 

Team Collaboration & DOP Leadership

·      Lead and manage camera and lighting teams for larger productions, ensuring that the technical aspects of the shoot are aligned with the director's vision.

·      Guide the setup and execution of camera angles, framing, and lighting designs to achieve the desired visual style, working closely with production designers, lighting technicians, and other key crew members.

·      Collaborate with the creative director, art directors and producers on larger fashion campaigns, ensuring seamless communication between departments and a smooth production process.

·      Ensure that all production crew members adhere to best practices on set.

 

Camera Operation & Lighting

·      Operate a variety of professional camera equipment from Broadcast/Cinema setups (e.g., RED, ARRI), through to lighter handheld rigs (such as Canon DSLRs) to capture dynamic fashion footage, both in controlled studio settings and on-location.

·      Work with lighting teams to create stunning lighting setups that enhance the mood, texture, and aesthetic of the fashion content, ensuring consistent quality across multiple shots and scenes.

·      Adjust and monitor camera settings, lenses, and equipment during the shoot to achieve optimal image quality, considering exposure, focus, and depth of field.

 

Sound Recording & Design

·      Record high-quality sound on set, including ambient sounds and dialogue, ensuring that audio is clear and free of distortion.

·      Use professional sound equipment and manage sound levels during shoots, adjusting for both indoor and outdoor environments.

·      Edit and design sound during the post-production process, adding music, voiceovers, sound effects, and ensuring audio aligns with the overall tone and rhythm of the video.

·      Export sound and audio for the required channel, adhering to the appropriate specifications, levels and formats.

 

Editing & Post-production

·      Edit raw footage into polished, broadcast-ready video content using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).

·      Colour grade footage (using DaVinci) to enhance visual appeal and maintain consistency with brand aesthetics and desired look and feel.

·      Create and integrate motion graphics, animations, and other design elements as needed, ensuring a cohesive look and feel for each project (Adobe After Effects desirable).

·      Deliver edited videos in multiple formats and ratios for web, social media, ecommerce, VOD and broadcast, ensuring that final files meet the technical requirements for different platforms.

 

Broadcast & Technical Knowledge

·      Apply knowledge of broadcast standards and technical specifications, ensuring that content is compliant with industry requirements for broadcast, web, and social media.

·      Troubleshoot and maintain production equipment, ensuring all gear functions properly and efficiently during shoots.

·      Apply your understanding of codecs, compressions, file formats, rates etc to ensure that projects are specified as required and data is stored and archived in line with best practices.

 

Additional Duties

·      Stay updated with current trends in fashion videography, cinematography, and new technologies in the video production industry.

·      Maintain an organised archive of raw footage, edits, and sound files.

·      Assist with promotional behind-the-scenes content or other marketing materials as required.

 


Qualifications


Education & Experience

·      Bachelor's degree in Video, Media, Film Production, Cinematography, Broadcast Journalism, or a related field (preferred).

·      5+ years of experience in videography or cinematography, with a focus on fashion, broadcast production, or related industries.

·      Proven experience in both solo shooting and leading larger production teams, with a portfolio showcasing integrated fashion campaigns, social content, editorial work, and broadcast content.

·      Strong experience as a Director of Photography (DOP) or in a leadership role on set, guiding camera and lighting teams.

 

Technical Skills

·      Expertise in camera operation including; High end cinematography (e.g., RED, ARRI), through to lighter handheld rigs (such as Canon DSLRs) and a thorough understanding of various lenses and shooting techniques.

·      Advanced knowledge of lighting, sound recording, and editing techniques.

·      Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and sound editing software (Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, etc.).

·      Familiarity with colour grading (Davinci).

·      Experience in motion graphics, and visual effects software (Adobe After Effects) (an advantage).

·      Solid understanding of broadcast and online video specifications, including resolutions, frame rates, and aspect ratios etc

·      Strong creative vision with the ability to bring fashion concepts to life through visuals.

·      Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.

·      Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with diverse teams of creative professionals.

·      Ability to lead a team, providing clear direction and feedback to ensure that the production achieves the desired aesthetic and technical quality.

·      Adaptability to changing environments and client needs, with a proactive and problem-solving approach.
