The Role:
As a Senior Ecologist, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality ecological services. Your work will directly contribute to the success of environmental and renewable energy projects across the UK, ensuring ecological compliance and sustainable outcomes.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct ecological surveys, including Phase 1/Fossitt habitat surveys, protected species scoping, and bat surveys.
- Produce comprehensive reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, and biodiversity management plans.
- Liaise with clients and statutory consultees to ensure project requirements are met.
- Attend client and site meetings.
- Undertake the Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) role when required.
What We Are Looking For:
Essential Criteria:
- A degree in ecology or a related field.
- Significant professional experience in report writing.
- Strong understanding of ecological legislation and regulations.
- Experience in Phase 1 habitat surveys.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and flexibility to travel across the UK.
- A full driving licence and your own transport.
Desirable Criteria:
- CIEEM accreditation.
- Post-graduate experience in ecology surveys.
- Experience in ornithology, bat surveys, and using ArcGIS.
- Knowledge of Groundwater Dependent Terrestrial Ecosystems (GWDTE).
- Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience.

How the Placement Bonus Works:
