Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Design Engineer with expertise in 3D CAD design and Autodesk Inventor to join our team as a contractor for up to 2 years. The primary responsibility of this role is to update and enhance our instruction manuals for mechanised irrigation systems. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Additionally, the candidate will assist in building Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Sage 200.
Rate of pay: £17.50 per hour
Hours: 42-hour week (part time considered)
Free parking on site
Key Responsibilities:
Create and develop detailed 3D models of mechanised irrigation systems using CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor.
Generate technical drawings and specifications for inclusion in updated instruction manuals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to ensure designs meet technical requirements and project objectives.
Review and revise designs based on feedback from stakeholders and production teams.
Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to verify design performance and functionality.
Maintain documentation of design processes, revisions, and project progress.
Update and enhance instruction manuals to ensure clarity, accuracy, and user-friendliness.
Incorporate detailed illustrations and diagrams in instruction manuals to aid in the assembly, operation, and maintenance of irrigation systems.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in CAD technology to continually improve design efficiency and quality.
Build and maintain accurate Bills of Materials within Sage 200.
Ensure all BOMs are up-to-date and reflect current design specifications and components.Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
Proven experience (3+ years) as a Technical Design Engineer or similar role.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce precise and accurate technical drawings and documentation.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a part-time capacity.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the agricultural or irrigation/manufacturing industry.
Knowledge of additional CAD software and design tools.
Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
Advanced Excel skills
Experience with Sage 200 or equivalent ERP systems.Benefits:
