KEY REQUIREMENTS
* In-person; hybrid & remote work is not currently being considered for this position due to the hands-on nature of the role.
* Mon - Fri. Typical working hours of 08:00 - 17:00, Mon-Thurs & 08:00 - 15:30 on Fri (the candidate must be flexible to work beyond these hours at times in order to meet the needs of the business).
* A full driving licence is required as this role may involve frequent travel throughout the UK.

JOB OVERVIEW
Following the planned expansion of my clients business, they are seeking an experienced and highly skilled manager to build and lead a new team dedicated to pipework manufacture, installation and offsite mechanical fit out. This division will operate in conjunction with the already well-established business, integrating pipework into existing projects and eliminating the need to engage third-party services. The aim is to provide a broader range of services to current clients, explore new markets, and take full ownership of specialist projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Management:
* Lead and manage a small team of 4-5 people (this will increase over time)
* Oversee all aspects of the department; design, manufacturing, paint, fit out & quality.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
Project Management:
* Take charge of design co-ordination, purchasing, order processing, production planning, and quality control.
* Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
* Participate in the bidding process for new projects, assessing feasibility and ensuring resource allocation.
* Liaising with external stakeholders and providing directors with regular updates.
Technical Expertise:
* Utilise a strong understanding of pipework design, fabrication & welding, including practical “on-the-tools” experience.
* Apply knowledge of both electrical and mechanical engineering to enhance project outcomes.
* Ensure adherence to ISO standards relating to quality across all projects.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree level qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Extensive experience in pipework fabrication & welding, with hands-on practical experience being highly desirable.
* Proven track record in leadership roles such as Production Manager, Operations Manager, Site Manager, or General Manager in industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Water Treatment or similar sectors.
Skills & Competencies:
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
* Deep understanding of ISO quality standards and their application in engineering projects.
* Excellent organisational and project management skills.
* Demonstrated success in previous roles, ideally with a progressive career history.
