Cityworx are recruiting an experienced Deputy Head Teacher to lead a specialist independent school for pupils aged 7-19 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Heath (SEMH) needs.
As the Deputy Head Teacher, you will be a member of the senior management team, responsible for the implementation of effective policies and procedures that support the high standards of educational. You will work to assist the Head Teacher in the day to day running of the school.
To achieve success, your key responsibilities as the Deputy Headteacher will include:
Strategic Direction and Shaping the Future
* Work with the headteacher to ensure the school’s vision is clearly articulated, shared, understood, and acted upon effectively by all
* Work within the school community to translate the school’s vision into agreed objectives that promote and sustain school improvement
* Ensure that strategic planning takes account of the diversity, values and experience of the school and the community
Managing the Organisation
* Implement the organisational structure so that it enables management processes to work effectively in line with legal requirements
* Manage the school’s resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the school’s educational goals and priorities
* Recruit, retain and deploy staff appropriately and assist in managing their workload to achieve the school’s vision and goals
* Responsibility for the day-to-day line management of a staff team comprising teachers and support staff. To meet with them regularly to monitor the implementation of all programme aims and procedures, and to evaluate their performance
Leading Learning and Teaching
* Ensure that pupil achievement, safety and well-being is at the heart of all school activities, creating a culture and ethos of challenge and support where all pupils can achieve success and become engaged in their own learning
* Support colleagues to develop and implement young people’s individual or personal learning plans, incorporating target setting and ensuring all pupils progress at expected rates and achieve relevant qualifications according to their level. To ensure pupils EHCP outcomes are met.
Developing Self and Working with Others
* Regularly review own practice, set personal targets, and take responsibility for own personal development
* Develop and maintain effective strategies and procedures for staff induction, professional development, and performance reviews
Securing Accountability
* With the headteacher, ensure individual staff accountabilities are clearly defined, understood, agreed, and subject to rigorous review
* Ensure that parents/carers and pupils are well informed about the curriculum, attainment, and progress and about the contribution they can make in supporting their child’s learning and achieving the school’s targets for improvement
Strengthening Community
* Build a school culture and curriculum which consider the richness and diversity of the school’s communities
Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment
* Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people as required under the Education Act 2002 and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment
* Follow local and national safeguarding and child protection guidance, ensuring policies and practice reflect changes, and all staff are aware of their roles and expectations, e.g. around Keeping Children Safe in Education
