Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity within the ICB for a Permanent, Band 8b, Head of Quality Governance and Assurance role within the Nursing, AHP and People Directorate in Sunderland.

The post is full time, however we are willing to consider part time or any other flexible arrangements.

Main duties of the job

To act as a first point of contact for the ICB in relation to highly sensitive quality, patient safety and patient experience issues, evaluating information provided in relation to risk identification, providing reassurance where appropriate, management and escalating as appropriate

Deputise for Director of Nursing and/or their Deputy.

This post is largely autonomous and as such the post holder will be expected to prioritise their own workload but will work closely with the Director of Nursing, their Deputy and the wider quality team, safeguarding colleagues and commissioning leads.

The post holder is expected to demonstrate a high level of analytical skills and to be able to use their judgement in a variety of highly complicated situations and or settings. This will likely also include understanding data as well as clinical situations.

The post holder will be required to write concise and accurate reports to provide assurance both internally within the ICB and external bodies. He/she needs to be able to analyse, interpret and compare highly complex and often emotive facts relating to the provision of care across a variety of providers and settings.
