Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for the role of a Condition Monitoring Engineer. The successful candidate will leverage their specialist knowledge to develop, operate, and enhance Condition Monitoring services for John Crane clients. This role is based on-site at a customer facility, where the engineer will directly coordinate, schedule, and participate in activities to comply with the established partnership agreement.

Key responsibilities include the collection, analysis, and reporting of Condition Monitoring data. The engineer will be expected to continually develop their expertise in this field, with John Crane providing comprehensive training and support for ongoing professional growth.


The role is site-based within the Chester area, the individual is required to be on site Monday to Friday.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Collection of a range of vibration measurements from rotating and reciprocating assets accurately and repeatably.
  • Collecting and compiling thermographic images of key static equipment.
  • Collection and analysis of data from reciprocating compressors.
  • Able to integrate within a team whilst also work independently on a customer site
  • Generate detailed reports on equipment condition.
  • Ability to manage customer relationship.
  • Ability to adhere to local and company H&S requirements.
  • Must be physically fit and able to perform the tasks required for the role, including lifting, carrying, and working in various field conditions.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds and stairs and work in restricted spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.


Responsibilities

  • To conduct routine condition monitoring surveys at our clients’ premises.
  • To conduct analysis of routine condition monitoring data, including vibration and other techniques.
  • To report condition analysis results and associated corrective maintenance recommendations.
  • To act as the client interface for the on-site delivery of Condition Monitoring services.
  • To continuously improve the effectiveness of condition monitoring programs, through defined review processes in conjunction with the Lead CM Engineer.
  • To conduct dynamic risk assessments, working safely and effectively.
  • Working towards or already qualified to ISO 18436-2 Vibration Analysis Category 2.
  • To be available periodically for shut-down/turnaround and callout events.



The Individual

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Vibration monitoring and analysis knowledge.
  • Thermography knowledge.
  • Rotating and reciprocating equipment knowledge.
  • Well-developed aural, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player working within a team whilst at a customers site.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a team working environment.
  • UK drivers licence required.
