Position: Contract Behaviour LSA in an SEMH Provision
Location: Hillingdon
Days: Monday to Friday (5 days)
Daily Rate: £85 – £100 (depending on experience)
Start: April 2024
Forward thinking and dynamic SEMH Provision located in Hillingdon is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work on a contract basis within a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision. The successful LSA will have strong skills in working with students with SEMH and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), Behaviour Difficulties, Complex Needs on a 1:1 basis, deescalating behaviour in a classroom support setting.  This position is to commence in April 2024.
Pupils who attend this SEMH Provision are between the ages of 7 – 18 years old.  Class sizes in this provision are small, typically between 5 – 7 children in each class.  Classes will be supported by the SEMH Teacher and several Behaviour LSAs. As a Behaviour LSA, you will be supporting them in all aspects of their school life an in their classes.  You must be able to build a strong rapport with children able to deescalate behavioural difficulties as and when required. 
The successful behaviour LSA:
Experience working as a Learning Support Assistant in a SEMH provision.
Strong skills in working with students with SEMH and ASD, Behaviour Difficulties, Complex Needs, 1:1 support and deescalating behaviour.
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative.
Experience of working with pupils with challenging behaviour.
A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare or Education would be desirable.
To provide support to students with SEMH and ASD, Behaviour Difficulties and Complex Needs on a 1:1 basis or in a classroom setting.
To work alongside teaching staff to deliver an effective curriculum which meets the needs of each individual student.
To develop and implement strategies for behaviour management and de-escalation for students with SEMH and ASD.
To assist with the planning and preparation of learning resources and materials.
To contribute to the assessment of student progress and the setting of learning objectives.
To maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
To communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals involved in the care and education of students.
