Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Sandwell, West Midlands
Position Type: Full-time
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? Do you have proficiency in British Sign Language and experience working with individuals with speech and language difficulties? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a SEN Teaching Assistant at (School Name).
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide support and assistance to students with special educational needs within the classroom setting.
* Utilize British Sign Language to effectively communicate with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
* Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans (BSPs) as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
* Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help with speech and language development.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
* Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.
* Experience working with students with speech and language difficulties is highly desirable.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the learning and development of students with special educational needs.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
