Safety Case Engineer (Contract) - Remote - £60-65/h
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Safety Case Engineer to author and manage Project-Oriented Safety Management Systems (POSMS) and Project-Oriented Environmental Management Systems (POEMS) for our Defence-related projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all safety and environmental documentation complies with Defence standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and author Safety Case Reports, POSMS, and POEMS documentation for Defence projects.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and safety specialists, to gather necessary information for documentation.
* Conduct safety and environmental assessments to support the development of POSMS and POEMS.
* Ensure all safety and environmental documentation meets relevant Defence standards and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in safety and environmental audits and reviews.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Defence standards, regulations, and best practices related to safety and environmental management.
* Provide guidance and support to project teams on safety and environmental management practices.
* Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines and quality standards are met.
* Review and update existing safety and environmental documentation as required.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
* Proven experience as a Safety Case Engineer, preferably within the Defence industry or a similarly highly regulated environment.
* Strong understanding of POSMS and POEMS.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in using relevant documentation tools and software.
* Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and standards to project documentation.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience with Defence standards and regulatory requirements for safety and environmental management.
* Knowledge of safety and environmental risk assessment methodologies.
* Familiarity with software tools used for safety and environmental management documentation.
* Understanding of project management principles and practices
