Role Overview
The M&E Estimator is responsible for ensuring that the Estimating Department provides exceptional service to our clients while aligning with our company objectives. As a mechanically biased professional, you will take the lead on mechanical and electrical estimates for projects with a value ranging from £5 million to £35 million.
Key Responsibilities
Estimation Process:
Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical and electrical components of construction projects.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents.
Utilise industry-standard software and tools for estimating purposes.
Cost Analysis:
Evaluate material costs, labour, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
Consider factors such as market rates, project complexity, and regional variations.
Provide detailed breakdowns of estimated costs.
Bid Preparation:
Develop comprehensive bid proposals.
Ensure compliance with client requirements and project specifications.
Participate in bid review meetings.
Risk Assessment:
Identify potential risks related to cost, scope, and schedule.
Propose mitigation strategies to minimise risks.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the Estimating team, project managers, and other departments.
Communicate effectively to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and technological advancements.
Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills
Mechanical or electrical engineering background preferred.
Proven experience in estimating for construction projects.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Excel).
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
