Our client is looking for an established Transport Supervisor to join their dynamic and fast paced team based in South London.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for the effective management of driver and vehicle resources, ensuring timely delivery and collection of tech equipment for events in accordance with client service level agreements (SLAs). Your key responsibilities will include:
Resource Management: Plan and manage driver and vehicle resources to meet delivery and collection schedules while adhering to client SLAs.
Liaison with Shunting Operations: Coordinate with the shunting team to oversee pre-loading and unloading operations.
Service Level Maintenance: Collaborate with other departments to ensure service levels are consistently achieved and maintained.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers' hours legislation, optimizing resources accordingly.
Route Planning: Utilize the driver rota to plan routes in alignment with shift patterns, available hours, and considerations for holidays and sickness.
Equipment Control: Implement a sign-in/sign-out procedure to manage equipment effectively.
Legal Compliance: Monitor and ensure legal compliance regarding vehicle defects, services, MOTs, and other regulatory requirements.
Incident Management: Investigate fleet damage, road traffic incidents (RTIs), high potential near misses (HPNMs), and escalate issues to line managers for further support.
Disciplinary Procedures: Conduct disciplinary hearings, return-to-work meetings, and substance misuse procedures as necessary.
Risk Assessment: Organize and conduct risk assessments at the depot as required.
Accident Reporting: Ensure that all accidents, incidents, and near misses are logged and reported in accordance with company procedures.
Driver Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, including providing accurate start times, load information, directions, and details of additional shifts.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all statutory and legal requirements, including health and safety protocols and safe systems of work.
Driver Briefings: Conduct pre-briefings and debriefings for drivers, ensuring that company standards are maintained and adhered to.Qualifications:
To be successful in the role of Transport Supervisor, you should possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
Extensive knowledge and experience of tachograph regulations and driving rules.
A CPC National qualification is desirable but not essential.
Previous management or supervisory experience.
Strong planning and organizational skills, with a high level of numeracy.
Effective negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and guide decisions.
The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
