Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a SEND Casework Manager (0-14) on a 3 months contract with the possibility of further extension.

Purpose of the role:

  • To manage and be responsible for all casework systems for children with SEND 0- 14 years and for cases under the SEND Tribunal system.
  • To show exemplary leadership and professional guidance to manage and develop the casework team (2 direct reports and 12 staff in total) to provide a high quality service and to ensure smooth transition from the Early Help service and to the 14- 25 Team for children and young people with SEND whist maintaining good relationships with all partner agencies and schools. This post holds responsibility for over 1300 children with SEN and disability and their families. The focus being the assessment, planning, provision and delivery of multi agency interventions to promote the life outcomes for children with SEN and disability within the SEND legal framework.
  • To be responsible for budget monitoring of placements and services agreed by the casework team in collaboration with the SEND Business Manager. Decision making and accountability for placements is in the context of a needs led but finite budget requiring close liaison with the SEND Business Manager.
  • To be the main point of contact for the SEN Team on all legal matters and to liaise with Legal Services as appropriate, including working with the senior management team on the ongoing development of delivery of services to schools and parents in relation to all areas outlined above.
  • To provide case management in respect of cases, which have been notified to the Local Authority, as appeals from the Tribunal Service and liaising with the legal services. Preparation of SEND appeals including advocacy at the SEND Tribunal

Requirements:

  • Good general standard of Education (GCSE or equivalent passes in English and Maths and 5 GCSEs or equivalent overall grades A*-C). Education to NVQ level 4/5/A level
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation (Children and Families Act 2014, 0-25 SEND Code of Practice)
  • Experience of commissioning services to meet service users need and achieve best value.
  • To have a minimum 5 years experience working in a multi-agency setting at a senior level.
  • At least 2 years experience of staff and resources management
