ERS are proud to be partnered with a leading biotechnology client, and as part of their success they are recruiting for a fermentation scientist to work with their Edinburgh team on a permanent basis.
  
This role will be responsible for developing and implementing fermentation processes for the production of various products, ranging from pharmaceuticals and enzymes to biofuels and food ingredients. You will optimise fermentation conditions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of desired compounds. 
  
Responsibilities
Plan and execute fermentation experiments
Evaluate and select appropriate strains of microorganisms for fermentation
Scale-up fermentation processes from laboratory to pilot and manufacturing scales
Monitor fermentation parameters such as temperature, pH, and nutrient levels to optimise production
Ensure that fermentation processes comply with regulatory requirements and quality standards Qualifications:
A BSc or Master’s degree in a relevant field (Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering) and / or strong industry experience
Strong knowledge of microbial physiology and metabolism.
