Quality Manager – Hertfordshire, UK – Electronics

About the Company:

We are looking for a Quality Manager from the electronics industry to join a well-established company overseeing quality at their Hertfordshire site. There will be a focus on continuous improvement and so the opportunity to help shape the future of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Performance Evaluation: Evaluate, maintain, and improve the company’s quality performance, identifying areas for enhancement in terms of quality levels, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Leadership: Lead the quality function by motivating and empowering the team to achieve both functional and company objectives.
  • QMS Management: Maintain a documented Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with relevant standards, taking full accountability for the QMS and related quality activities.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the senior leadership team to propose and plan changes aimed at achieving company goals, involving budgeting, project planning, and implementation while controlling timescales and costs.
  • Quality Standards: Oversee the practical operation and overall performance of quality standards within the company.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use continuous improvement tools to enhance quality performance.
  • Issue Investigation: Lead investigations into internal and external quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions using methods such as 8D.
  • Audit Preparation: Maintain, develop, and prepare quality documentation for the annual audit. Assist Departmental Managers with their responsibilities and resolve any non-conformances.
  • Audit Management: Lead, manage, coordinate, and perform internal and external audits to EN 9100:2018 (AS9100) Rev D and ISO9001:2015 standards.
  • Supplier Development: Work with the Supply Chain Manager to support supplier development.
  • Quality Metrics: Generate and develop quality performance data, metrics, and KPIs.
  • Customer Liaison: Assist and liaise with customers on all quality-related issues.
  • Workload Monitoring: Plan and monitor the workload of the quality team.
  • Cross-Departmental Liaison: Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Senior Management on quality-related issues.
  • Training: Support the workforce in training on Quality Control Procedures to ensure full adherence and compliance.
  • Environmental Policy Compliance: Follow and uphold the company’s environmental policy, procedures, and instructions to minimize environmental impacts.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the senior leadership team.


Requirements:

  • Significant experience in a senior or managerial Quality role within Electronic Manufacturing.
  • In-depth understanding and experience with AS9100 and ISO9001 Quality Standards.
  • Proven track record of performing internal audits to AS9100 / ISO9001 standards.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and motivate direct reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail, including the ability to investigate issues and complete NCRs and 8Ds.
  • Effective in working within multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including influencing abilities and building long-term customer relationships.
  • Education to GCSE equivalent level, including Maths and English.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Medical Accreditation ISO13485 would be beneficial.
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent in a related subject would be desirable.
