Wakefield Operations is the largest plant in CCEP and the biggest soft drink plant in Europe which produces about a third of GB’s volume across their 8 manufacturing, and 2 preform lines.

The site can produce 540,000 cans per hour and 132,000 bottles per hour. With over 550 employees across Manufacturing, QESH and Engineering, experience here can lead to excellent career opportunities both in Wakefield and further afield across other GB sites and Pan-European locations.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, onsite your key responsibilities will include:nManaging a small team of lab analysts responsible for all microbiological and chemical finished product testing on site.nInvolvement and support as required in new initiatives programmesnDrive Quality & product integrity

Quality support to the operation

To Supply quality and technical support to all areas to ensure the quality of our products is maintained to the required level

Quality Execution

Ensure the completion of all asset care tasks in line with site requirementsnGive technical support and supervision when required to complete maintenance & quality activitiesnAdvise and support site on issues concerning micro and product related mattersnPerform calculations when syrup corrections are required and investigate failuresnPerform lab and sampling tasks in a timely and effective mannernPerform and set up sensory sessionsnSpecialists in equipment calibration and MicrobiologynPerform plate prepping and readingnUnderstand and assist in the process technical operator activities as and when requirednEnsure effective use of and the ability to problem solve on the quality & performance systemsnTake the lead in problem solving quality, micro & syrup make up issuesnUnderstand the operation of the process equipmentnArea expert for water treatment

Responsibility and Sustainability

Quality

Conduct QESH checks to ensure that product and equipment remains within specification and escalate any non-conformance immediatelynInvolvement in Environmental and Health and Safety risk assessments as requested

Site Health and Safety

Follow Site Safety best practices to ensure safe-working for self and to protect the safety of colleagues to demonstrate zero accident behaviournCarry out dynamic risk assessments of planned worknEnsure own personal hygiene meets requirements of food industrynCarry out all pre-use inspections on machinery to ensure they are safe to operate

Environment

Highlight any leaks and spillagesnComplete water treatment audits as requirednEscalate and reduce possible pest ingressnEnsure waste is segregated in line with site policynControl energy usage in area and highlight potential saving

Operational Excellence /Functional Excellence Technical Expertise

Provide on-the-job technical training to maintain and increase understanding of micro, quality and GMP practises.

Operational Excellence

Share and replicate best practice with other team members and colleagues to improve yield, quality, safety and environmentnActively use quality monitoring systems in order to drive performance and rectify issues/non conformancesnActive involvement in OE programmesnDrive and support improvement activitiesnSupport development of asset life plans

Team Flexibility

Provide training and coaching to your team to improve their knowledge of micro, quality and GMP practises.nAs and when required operate machines to agreed level of expertise in process work area to assist in the making of syrupsnAs and when required support all areas of site for quality issuesnPerform other tasks as required by the department to ensure team performance and manufacturing output are achievednAccountable for an effective handover, agreed locally as to content and format.nAttend and support the delivery of shift team briefing sessions to ensure communication and feedback of key operational and site information

Skills & Essentials:

University graduate with a degree in Chemistry

or Scientific discipline is essential.nAn understanding of laboratory processes and associated risksnStrong practical skills and common sensenAbility to work hands-on and apply learned knowledge effectivelynProficiency in Microsoft Excel
