The Role:

Our client, a recognised architectural practice that is known across the UK for their distinguished projects that take on a sustainable and sensitive approach to cultural buildings across the country, are looking for a talented Senior Architect to join their studio in Colchester.


Working alongside a supportive and friendly team, as the Senior Architect, you would be responsible for managing several projects from design stages to construction. The ideal candidate would have strong communication skills, previous cultural or conservation experience within the architectural industry and would be a designer who thrives working in a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical and construction packages
  • Liaise with stakeholders, clients and key public officials
  • Ability to work on your own as well as being able to manage and delegate work efficiently
  • Prior experience in the preservation of listed buildings is beneficial
  • Previous experience both leading the internal team as well as coordinating with external consultants and clients when working on intricacies of delivery on RIBA stages 4 and 5
  • Great communication skills when collaborating with fellow architects within the company and delivering guidance to your team
  • A strong understanding of UK building and planning regulations is necessary with prior experience in the UK being a must


Key Skills:

  • A relevant degree in Architecture is essential along with ARB registration
  • Experience in Revit is essential
  • Proven experience working throughout all RIBA stages
  • Excellent technical detailing and understanding
  • At least 5 years experience post ARB registration
  • AABC or RIBA SCA/CA accreditation is desirable
  • Previous experience taking responsibility on financial success of projects and a good commercial understanding
