A leading manufacturing company based in Chatteris are looking for an experienced Buyer to support their on-going projects and the future growth goals of the business.
They are looking for you to take control over the purchasing function ensuring continuous improvement is made with systems and procedure development. To secure quality suppliers of materials, components and indirect spend covering price, delivery and quality targets whilst obtaining the optimised benefit for the company.
Job Responsibilities
Managing negotiations with project suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule, and quality
To ensure optimised and prioritised ‘just in time’ material and services supply
Optimisation of cost and cash controls to support the broader business needs
Proactively review systems and procedures, making recommendations for improvement and implementing changes
Align purchasing role activities to achieve operational objectives, timelines and budgets
Take the lead in securing quality suppliers of materials, components and indirect spend covering technical compliance, price, delivery and quality targets so as to obtain the optimised benefit for the company
Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule, and quality
Hold responsibility for development and maintenance of suitable KPIs
Ensure procurement best practice is followed at all times
Manage Approved Supplier Base by developing, maintaining, and developing strong relationships
Measure and monitor supplier performance against, including milestone targets, measuring cost against budget, quality and on-time delivery
Optimise and prioritise ‘just in time’ material and services supply in support of engineering and operations
Optimise cost and cash controls to support the business needs
Undertaking purchase ordering from the company ERP system
Person Specification
Previous manufacturing based, technical purchasing experience, gained within the manufacturing engineering industry
Proven track record in supplier management with robust negotiating, communication, influencing and relationship management
Proven track record of identifying and implementing continuous improvements
Experience with ERP systems
Hours of Work and Pay
Monday to Friday
Early finish on a Friday
