The Engineering department plays a pivotal role in shaping our products, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. If you're passionate about the construction industry and want to contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions, we’d love to hear from you

Your Role:

As a Senior Engineer, you will be a key player in managing and guiding a small team of technicians whilst overseeing the technical aspects of our product and project designs. You’ll take the lead on ensuring that our temporary roofing systems and products meet the highest technical and compliance standards. Your work will have a direct impact on the success of projects both in the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Mentor: Direct and advise a team of technicians, ensuring technical excellence and effective collaboration.
  • Design & Analysis: Take responsibility for the design, analysis and verification of products and project installations, ensuring they meet all technical and safety standards.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical advice to both internal teams and external customers, including suppliers, clients and checking authorities.
  • Product Development: Regulate the development of new products within our product development framework, ensuring they align with industry standards and customer needs.
  • Compliance & Standards: Keep up to date with British and International standards and ensure all products and processes comply with the latest industry requirements.
  • Innovation: Liaise with suppliers, group companies and external consultants to drive forward product innovation and improvements.
  • Travel & Representation: Attend conferences, supplier/client meetings and site visits (both UK and abroad) to represent DESSA and support ongoing projects.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking an ambitious and highly skilled Senior Engineer with a solid background in structural steel, non-mechanical construction systems, or similar disciplines. You’ll have a mix of technical expertise and commercial awareness, along with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. We value proactive individuals who thrive in a collaborative team setting and have a clear focus on delivering quality outcomes.

Ideal Qualifications & Experience:

  • Professional Qualification: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent status with a relevant institution (e.g., IStructE, ICE).
  • Education: BSc/BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, structural analysis software (e.g., SkyCiv, Dlubal, AdvancedDesign, Robot), and Office 365.
  • Industry Knowledge: Practical understanding of construction, scaffolding, temporary works and related sectors.
  • Leadership: Experience managing and guiding a team, with a strong ability to delegate and drive projects forward.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.

What We Offer:

  • Career Development: Opportunities for continuous professional growth, training and the chance to work on exciting, high-impact projects.
  • International Exposure: Occasional travel to conferences, client meetings, and site visits—both within the UK and overseas.
  • Cutting-Edge Tools: Access to industry-leading software and technologies, including Autodesk, 3DS Max, and advanced structural analysis tools.
  • Small Team, Big Impact: Join a supportive team where your contributions will be recognised and valued. At DESSA, every voice counts.
