PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR Industrial & Defence Applications - Precision Engineered ComponentsCompetitive Salary – South WalesBoasting a history spanning well over a hundred years and a turnover approaching £250 million, this FTSE 250 UK PLC global market leader is recognised for delivering technical solutions to OEM’s, end-users and appointed distributor channels.The company manufacture critical components for torque transmission equipment used in drivetrain applications within Naval & Marine Propulsion, Oil & Gas, Mineral Extraction, Mass Transit, Lifting, Conveying and Processing Sectors.Role
- Drive and own CI projects in production to achieve operational improvements including increased throughput and reduced scrap.
- Lead a safety-first culture in production, setting and maintaining the highest level of housekeeping standards.
- Maximise efficiency of shift by ensuring all planned machines are run and lost time activities in production are minimised – to include performance management of CNC Operators to ensure actual hours booked are maximised.
- Encourage uptake of LEAN mentality with a focus on 5Y’s and rapid problem solving
- Create, maintain and implement training plan for all CNC Operators to develop skills and ensure the workforce is flexible to achieve production plans and maximise efficiency.
- Completion of near miss and accident investigations to ensure H&S compliance with legal and Group requirements.
- Driver of constant customer focus on shop floor, ensuring key actions are followed up on in production and other areas to ensure customer expectations are met as a minimum.
- Accept responsibility for achievement of KPI targets for production, including but not limited to near misses & accidents, production efficiency, schedule adherence and OTIF.
- Ownership of IRMS actions for shop floor, ensuring all actions are closed out in a timely manner with a reduction of repeat ratio.
- Management of production operating costs to budget and forecast, including labour, consumables, and scrap costs.
- May be a Shift manager/Supervisor seeking advancement towards delivery of site Operations Strategy in conjunction with Operations Manager.
- Need to be familiar with low volume, high value multi-axis machining of large complex parts with extended cycle times.
