Role: Chief Architect

Location: Gloucester (hybrid 3-4 days on site)

Day Rate: up to £750 DOE OUTSIDE IR35

Clearance SC Cleared



We are looking for a Chief Architect to provide leadership and strategic direction for a major defence programme. You will act as a trusted advisor, working closely with senior client stakeholders and delivery teams.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including senior civil servants and industry teams.
  • Provide leadership and action time-bound organisational capability delivery increments.
  • Support Army HQ, Defence Digital, and Army end customer, aligning with broader transformation activities.
  • Promote architectural leadership and System of Systems thinking in key delivery programmes.


Required Skills:


  • Understanding of Deployed and Tactical Military Domains (ISTAR, CIS, Cyber).
  • Knowledge of Defence Digital & Military customers, Army's Intelligence, Planning, and Targeting Cycles.
  • Experience in MOD environments (Air, Land, Maritime, C4ISR).
  • Proven track record in enterprise architecture and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, CAA, SOA, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Broad knowledge of IT delivery mechanisms and software technologies (Application Hosting, Big Data, DevOps, Cloud Services).
  • Awareness of Safety and Security Management in the MoD domain.
  • Experience with configuration management and baseline development on complex programmes.
