CNC Machinist

ResponsibilitiesnPlans machining by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances.nPrograms mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.nSets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, vices, vacuum plates, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, stops, and stock pushers.nVerifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to company production and, quality standards and, procedures.nMaintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.nMaintains safe operations by adhering to health and safety procedures and regulations.nMaintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; speaking to line manager to call for repairs.nMaintains continuity of jobs in department by properly documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs on job cards, timesheets and/or SAP systems.nDocuments actions by completing production and quality logs and/or timesheets.nUpdates job knowledge by actively participating in on-the-job training opportunities; familiarizing yourself with company policies, processes and procedures and, making use of the Standard Operating Procedures available.nAccomplishment toward organization goals by accepting ownership for undertaking new and different requests; exploring opportunities to continually improve on existing processes to reduce cost and increase efficiency.
QualificationsnHNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferrednExcellent attention to detailnOrganizational and time management skillsnCoaching and skills share.nExperienced Problem SolvernAble to demonstrate sound technical engineering knowledge.nProgramming Fanuc control XYZCB AxisnKnowledge of Proto TRAK programming and setting an advantagenUnderstanding conversational programming for milling machines.nAbility to characterize material machinability, tool holding, tool cutter presentation and select appropriate coolants for CNC manufacturing.nWritten and oral communication skillsnTime served apprenticeshipnKnowledge of working with PTFE a distinct advantagenCMM experience would be an advantagenContinuous improvementnTool & Fixture making
