In this specific contract position, you'll be working hand-in-hand with our dedicated automotive clientele. Due to the nature of the role, we will only be able to consider candidates with direct Automotive work experience. We are only able to consider candidates on an inside IR35 basis.
What You'll Do:
Working as a consultant, you will support our Customer’s existing engineering quality resource, you will be responsible for driving an increased throughput of automotive projects through to robust resolution.
We are actively seeking experienced Automotive Project Engineers in the following disciplines:
* Power Conversion Systems
Each project will be progressed using defined problem-solving methodology, predominantly 8D process, from problem definition through to engineering release.
Responsibilities:
Our Customer has existing quality improvement teams in each of the engineering specialisms (body, chassis, powertrain, electrical, and power conversion). The Power Conversion Project Engineer will take ownership of issues related to HV and 48V power conversion systems, including DCDC Inverters and Belt Integrated Starter Generators (B-ISG). You will focus on diagnostics, testing, and writing test scripts to excite failure modes and support problem resolution.
Specific duties include:
* Leading problem definition activities for power conversion issues.
* Conducting data-gathering activities to understand possible contributing factors and root causes.
* Building detailed understanding of the full power conversion system functionality.
* Reporting transparently on quality issue status.
* Leading cost/warranty reduction initiatives related to power conversion systems.
* Recommending improvements to engineering standards for current and future power components/systems.
* Creating and maintaining service-related documentation.
Who We Are Looking For:
* Proven problem-solving skills in power conversion systems, including HV and 48V.
* Technical knowledge related to DCDC Inverters (48V to 12V) and BISG systems.
* Familiarity with automotive fault-finding and diagnostics (e.g., understanding how monitors work, filtering, reaction and diagnostics).
* Experience in testing and exciting failure modes, including writing test scripts.
* Ability to compromise problem-solving skills for technical specialization when necessary.
* HV System/System Engineering knowledge would be beneficial.
* Ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all business levels.
* Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Full valid UK driving license.
