Play Designer

We are excited to welcome a new full-time Play Designer to our team at Green Play Project. Our company collaborates with a diverse range of clients, including schools, the National Trust, the Forestry Commission, and local councils. We specialise in designing, building, and installing playgrounds primarily using natural materials.
Our play spaces are crafted to encourage physical activity, foster a sense of community, and ignite the imagination of all users. Guided by contemporary play principles, we are committed to promoting inclusive play for individuals of all ages, genders, and abilities.
The Role
The role involves working at various scales, from designing individual play equipment to considering the broader layout and landscaping of entire play areas.
You will primarily be based at our office located at our workshop in Henbury. The proximity of the workshop and the office layout facilitates direct communication with team members, including the site manager, workshop manager, business manager, and finance manager. You will collaborate with an existing designer and also have the opportunity to work with our in-house illustrator and timber sculptor.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-Taking measurements on-site at initial consultation meetings
-Facilitating consultations with clients + stakeholders
-Producing conceptual 3D models + drawings
-Creating presentations thoroughly explaining design + narrative
-Presenting design proposals on zoom + in person
-Producing construction drawings
-Liaising with suppliers + subcontractors
-Visiting + reviewing progress on-site
Required skills:
-Experienced in using CAD software to produce technical drawings (Vectorworks preferred, or equivalent)
-Confident in using 3D modeling software (SketchUp preferred, or equivalent)
-Design-related degree qualification (landscape design or product design preferred)
-Basic ability in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
-Keen interest in play theory
-Strong graphic design skills
-Confident in delivering presentations both online and in person
Preferred but not essential:
-Confident in using Vectorworks
-Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
-Experience using 3D rendering software (e.g., Twinmotion)
-Professional experience in the field
-Basic understanding of timber properties and construction methods
Driving License essential
