The Role

We are looking to recruit a full-time Senior Structural Engineer to join a team in Glaston. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the local and national Engineering teams on a wide range of projects, including structural surveys and structural designs for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The Senior Structural Engineer is expected to support the Engineering Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within their own level of authority and providing training and guidance to supporting team members.

This position provides a perfect opportunity for the successful candidate to show their ambition, drive, and passion for customer service. Delivering the client's values in a professional manner with good interpersonal communication skills is essential.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Undertaking technical and feasibility studies, including organizing site investigations.
  2. Using a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations.
  3. Liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects.
  4. Preparing contract documents and managing tenders.
  5. Resolving design and development problems.
  6. Managing budget and project resources.
  7. Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements, including CDM2015, Party Wall, and Listed Buildings regulations.
  8. Undertaking large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services.
  9. Assessing sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
  10. Contributing to the company’s marketing objectives, targets, and initiatives.
  11. Assisting directors with training and development of the engineering team.
  12. Inspecting/supervising construction work on-site under contract, preparing interim and final accounts, claims, and practical completion.
  13. Providing supervision and support to ICE/IStructE candidates to promote knowledge and understanding.
  14. Complying with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures, and Health & Safety regulations at all times.
