Camden Area, United Kingdom SNAP Care Full time
Brain Injury Support Worker /PA, NW1. An experienced, professional, and passionate Brain Injury Support Worker / PA required to assist a 29-year-old aspiring Artist in London. Friday 8.00am to Monday 8.00am. £50,544.00 Gross per Annum.
Nearest Tube/Station: Baker Street
Wage/Salary: £316.00 weekdays | £328.00 Weekends Gross per 24-hour shift | £50,544.00 Gross per Annum
Driver Essential? No
Essential: Hands-on experience supporting a client with a brain injury, excellent communication skills and an interest in art. Confident / comfortable walking the dogs. This role is open to *female applicants only.
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Friday 8.00am to Monday 8.00am.
Family/Client Pets: Yes, 2 dogs.
Accommodation: Bedroom and ensuite
Recruiter: Jade
About this client/child: Lily is 29 years old, living with her partner and two dogs in Marylebone. She loves caring for her dogs and bringing them both out for walks. Lily is an aspiring artist, who enjoys working on her pieces at home in her art studio, exploring art galleries across London, and attending pottery painting classes. 4 years ago, Lily sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury, resulting in a severe cognitive impairment, including fatigue and short-term memory loss. She requires support and assistance with day-to-day life activities. Lily’s Mum and Dad live locally, and pop around regularly or meet out for lunch etc.
Overview of role: Lily’s brain injury is complex; some days she is extremely capable, getting out and about living life, whilst other days her extreme fatigue will stop her from being able to complete basic tasks. On good days, Lily can spend time working on her art, take her two lovely dogs out for a walk, prepare meals, manage her household chores, and just get on with what she needs or wants to do. On the not so good day, Lily’s energy levels are depleted, and she will find it difficult to get dressed or have shower; on these days nipping over the road and grabbing a coffee is a big win, and these wins are what Lily’s therapy team and Support Worker/PA will support her to achieve. During days Lily needs to rest you will step in and ensure that everything keeps ticking over, so that when Lily’s energy is up, she can carry on with business as usual. With her short-term memory loss Lily can forget if she has eaten, had her medication, or taken her dogs for a walk etc. so therefore support and assistance is required in these areas, and prompts to keep her on task when required. This role is set working days and nights starting Friday morning and working through until Monday morning. Typically, Lily does not require support during the night, except when her partner is away for work, however, regular disturbances are not anticipated.
Who this job would suit: A proactive, motivated, and dedicated SEN professional with excellent experience and knowledge of brain injury. The two most important things for Lily are that you love dogs, and art – neither are negotiable, it’s essential that you both have these things in common.
What’s great about this job: Yes, we are asking that you work every weekend, however, most days will not seem like work at all. You will have the opportunity to enjoy all the culture wonders London has to offer, support Lily with her own artwork and know that you are really making a positive difference to her life. This role offers continued professional development, excellent training and ongoing support and supervision.
