Hello we are Penelope and we are looking for an experienced, capable and concise 2nd line engineer to join our support team based in our Bath office. We work on a hybrid basis and will require you work from the office 3 days per week. From May 2024we have car parking spaces available on site.

You will join our service desk, which means youd spend some of the working day helping users remotely, over the phone and from time to time in person at our clients offices. You will also work on cloud implementation projects. Were looking for someone with at least 5-6 years professional experience someone who likes a challenge, is a first-rate problem solver and ideally is looking to grow professionally. We think its an interesting and rewarding role and one that youll be able to make your own; were a growing company and theres a lot of room for growth and exposure to the technologies that youre interested in as a result

About the role

Its likely to be a varied role depending on your capabilities and skills. Youll also have a strong focus on technology and experience with a range of desktop and networking systems as well as cloud technologies to offer support to our clients. Were after someone who is smart, capable and eager to learn to join our team in supporting our charitable and social enterprise clients across the UK.

Essential requirements

  • At least 5-6 years service IT support and help desk management experience

  • Excellent problem solving skills with a proactive attitude

  • Excellent interpersonal & customer service skills

  • Excellent organisational & time management skills - multitasking is a must

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • AD and Azure AD management

  • Microsoft Windows Server OS management, and support.

  • Managing Azure & Office 365

  • Excellent understanding and experience within modern IT platforms, Enterprise IT systems and networking (our clients use Office 365, Azure, Hyper-V, Windows Server 201619, SQL, Exchange etc)

  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, Mosyle and other MDM solutions

  • Managing Microsoft Modern Workplace services such as SharePoint, Teams, Flow

  • Managing virtualized environments such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Hyper-V, VMWare

  • Good scripting abilities especially PowerShell

  • Good working knowledge of major networking components, to include networking operating systems, basic configuration and maintenance, Switches, Router, Load Balancers and Firewalls etc

  • Networking skills - WiFi, TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN etc

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems 7 11

  • Acting as a point of escalation for 1st line colleagues

  • Microsoft certified or other industry relevant qualifications

  • The right to work in the UK

Highly desirable

  • Experience of managing projects

  • Experience of system migrations, system recovery and security

Qualifications

  • A Bachelors Degree or equivalent advanced studies / training

  • Experience working in a MSP
