Role: Timber stress grading (Technical Assessor)

Contract role: Great daily rate + expenses & travel paid

Location: Remote, UK coverage

We are currently looking for an expert within Timber Stress grading ideally within the BS 4978 environment to become our go to external technical assessor for Lumber

You will be playing a pivotal role as our external Technical Assessors which is a crucial part of the UKAS assessment process, providing UKAS with the essential expertise required to deliver robust assessments in Timber Stress grading across the UK, this role

You can do alongside a permanent role or as an independent consultant.

Key skill for the role:

• Practical and technically focussed knowledge of Timber Stress Grading including Knowledge / understanding of the type of grading (hardwood/softwood, manual or machine)
• Knowledge of the Timber Stress Grading schemes.
• Ideally knowledge of the Relevant British, European or International Timber Stress Grading standards and their application.
• Appreciation of the use (and misuse) of products
• Knowledge of ISO 17065 - preferably

To be successful in this position it is required to have some experience as either working in a lumber yard, working with lumber yard professionals, or understanding the academia around timber stress grading.

You will be able to demonstrate participating in quality control procedures to ensure graded timber meets regulatory standards.
