Advanced Innovative Manufacturing (AIM) is seeking a highly skilled Lead CNC Machinist & CAD/CAM Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with industry-leading CAM software and a strong background in operating and managing CNC milling, turning, and multi-axis machines, particularly the Mazak Variaxis i-500 and Doosan DNM 6700 Fanuc-controlled systems. This role is critical to ensuring the precision and efficiency of our manufacturing processes, particularly in low-batch, high-mix production runs. The successful candidate will work directly under the guidance of our General Manager to meet the company’s strategic and operational goals. AIM is committed to integrating Industry 4.0 technologies and achieving AS9100 certification, positioning ourselves as a leader in advanced manufacturing solutions for the automotive and aerospace sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup and Operation: Set up and operate Mazak Variaxis i-500 / Doosan DNM 6700 Fanuc-controlled, 3-5 axis milling, and turning machines to produce component parts, ranging from basic to complex, for low-batch, high-mix production runs. Follow the daily production plan to ensure timely and efficient output of high-quality parts.
- CNC Programming: Create or modify basic CNC programs using G & M code to optimize machine performance and part production.
- Quality Assurance: Perform self-inspections of repeat work using appropriate inspection tools to ensure components meet quality standards. Maintain adherence to the company’s quality management system and promptly report any defects or production issues to the Team Lead and production engineering team.
- Maintenance: Conduct regular Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on machinery to ensure optimal machine performance and longevity.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist with continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing production efficiency, reducing waste, and implementing lean manufacturing principles. Provide feedback on operational performance to the Team Lead and actively participate in improvement activities.
- Collaboration and Communication: Foster effective working relationships with peers and support teams. Communicate effectively with the production team and engineering departments to ensure seamless integration of machining operations.
- Documentation and Compliance: Monitor and document operational performance, providing feedback to the Team Lead. Follow all company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) and compliance guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized workspace by adhering to housekeeping, 5S, and FOD (Foreign Object Debris) rules.
Professional Skills and Qualifications:
- CNC Machinery Proficiency: Extensive experience in operating CNC milling and turning machinery, particularly with Fanuc or Mazatrol control systems.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of machine tooling, inspection measuring equipment, and the ability to produce high-quality components with excellent attention to detail.
- CNC Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in creating and modifying CNC programs using G & M code.
- Engineering Literacy: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and data to ensure precise production of components.
- CAD/CAM Experience: Experience with industry-leading CAD/CAM software is highly desirable and considered a plus.
- Formal Qualification: Completion of a formal apprenticeship in machining or a related field, or equivalent vocational training and qualifications.
Hours and Environment
- Thirty-eight hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (with a 30-minute lunch break).
- Fridays, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
- Standard 21 days of annual leave plus statutory bank holidays.
