Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Year 4 Class with SEN and Behavioural Support
Position Overview: We are working closely with a school in Burnley who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their Year 4 team, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges. This role will involve working closely with the class teacher to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, dyslexia, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support students in achieving their learning goals.
Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs and styles.
Foster a safe, nurturing, and supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning for all students.
Promote positive behaviour and social skills development through proactive intervention and reinforcement techniques.
Collaborate with other staff members, parents/carers, and external professionals to address the unique needs of each student and ensure holistic support.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour incidents, and interventions, contributing to ongoing assessment and evaluation.Qualifications:
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
Relevant experience working with children with SEN and behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational setting.
Knowledge of various SEN conditions and understanding of effective intervention strategies.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging behaviours and situations.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the classroom environment.
