Murray McIntosh is currently recruiting for a Transducer Engineer to work on a permanent basis for a client of ours as detailed below:
We are looking for candidates with extensive experience working with transducers, preferably ultrasonic or acoustic. We welcome applicants from any industry background.
A background of working in an R&D environment & managing NPI would be ideal.
Responsibilities:
- Design, characterise, prototype, and validate transducers at the component level to enhance performance, reliability, and production yield of sensor products.
- Develop detailed design requirements, technical specifications, and experimental validation reports for prototyping and transitioning transducer designs to production.
- Specify characteristics, measurement methods, testing, and metrology equipment crucial to the manufacturing and assembly process, focusing on acoustics, mechanics, and piezoelectric performance.
- Support electronic design and assembly related to transducers for new product development.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Automation functions with automated manufacturing and assembly processes, quality control, and yield data analysis for transducers.
- Investigate and perform root cause analysis on transducer-related issues and subsystems.
- Create reports on theoretical proposals, finite element analysis (FEA), design proposals, and experimental results, and develop standardised reporting tools.
- Stay informed about and evaluate emerging transducer technologies.
- Manage and deliver specific transducer research projects or sub-projects.
- Provide estimates and progress reports on work breakdown structures, tasks, and timelines for transducer research projects or sub-projects.
Skills & experience required:
- BSc or MSc in Acoustics, Physics, Electronics, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in piezoelectric component-level design with a working knowledge of manufacturing constraints.
- Proficiency in system-level design and analysis for audio and ultrasonic applications.
- Proven expertise in the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of transducers.
- Experience with new product introduction and specifying critical process parameters for performance and reliability within a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
- Competency in using commercial finite element analysis (FEA) modelling packages for electro-acoustics and mechanical analysis.
