About the role:
You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:
Handle all homelessness, housing register reviews, and Housing Benefit and Council Tax appeals.
Collaborate with Legal Services to minimise legal challenges, monitor, and report on Judicial Reviews and other legal and Ombudsman challenges.
Represent the Council in County Court and High Court matters and provide instructions to Legal Services to protect the Council's interests.
Develop comprehensive management information for all aspects of appeals and reviews.
Conduct detailed manual calculations and system reconciliations as needed to resolve appeals and reviews.
About you:
The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:
Extensive experience in homelessness assessments and reviews under Part 7 Housing Act 1996.
Detailed knowledge of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction schemes.
Experience working within a Housing Benefit or Homelessness/Housing allocation department for at least three years.
Experience conducting internal audits to ensure fair and equitable services.
What's on offer
Salary: £23ph+per hour
*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*
Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension
Hours: Monday - Friday, 36 hours per week
