Regional Key Account Director – Freight Forwarding – UK


About the Role


DP World have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Key Account Director to join us within our newly established Freight Forwarding division. This position requires a thorough understanding and knowledge of the Freight market.


The ideal candidate will possess exceptional quick learning skills and significant international Freight expertise. Building up the trust on all levels and having the capabilities to create strong customer solutions is key for success and makes the job highly complex. This is a role for a seasoned professional with charisma and the ability to solve complex challenges with outside of the box solutions.


NOTE: this role will be based in the UK with a regional responsibility, a hybrid opportunity with travel across Europe as and when required.



How you will contribute


  • and execute a comprehensive plan for new opportunities and expanding business (share of wallet).
  • effective leads and opportunities, ideally based on your existing network and book of business.
  • and exceed financial growth targets and expand DP World’s geographic offering footprint with these accounts across the service portfolio.
  • and develop relationships with key decision makers at all levels within a customer.
  • understanding of customers’ expectations relative to operational solutions, costs, and results and ideally are aware of some of their challenges before they are.
  • the customer's business (strategically, operationally, financially), buying process and identify all influences.
  • a very good understanding of all related transport regulations, challenges, and opportunities. You have an in-depth understanding of the market.
  • an up-to-date pipeline of current and future opportunities, quantifying number of opportunities, value of the opportunity and managing / increasing the probability to win.
  • closely with Global and Regional Account Managers and share best practice.
  • RFQs (request for quotations) for new business opportunities and renewals of existing business with assigned customers, engaging other functions as required and own the commercial relationship and contract negotiations with the customer.



What you will bring


  • +10 years-experience within the transport, logistics or freight forwarding industry (or similar service industry) with focus on international Freight Market.
  • value-selling experience.
  • and managing a team of subject matter experts.
  • in freight sales and existing book of business.
  • intercultural capabilities and relationship building with internal stakeholders are essential.
