Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Computer Science to lead and develop our thriving Computer Science department. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward the vision and curriculum of the department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, and promoting a love for Computer Science across the school.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Computer Science department, ensuring the delivery of an engaging and challenging curriculum.
Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning and achievement.
Monitor and assess students' progress, providing support and intervention where necessary.
Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
Organize and oversee extracurricular activities related to Computer Science, such as coding clubs and competitions.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate technology across the curriculum.
Stay updated with the latest developments in Computer Science education and incorporate these into the department's practices.
Support the professional development of department staff through mentoring and training.
Person Specification
A degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Proven experience of teaching Computer Science at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
Demonstrated leadership experience within an educational setting.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
A passion for Computer Science and a commitment to fostering this in students.
Ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
Commitment to continuous professional development and a collaborative working style.
