Purpose
To perform estimating and proposals functions for MCCs, Switchboards, and Control Panels (LV). This role involves evaluating, prioritizing, and delivering high-quality, accurate, competitive proposals while closely liaising with clients and internal engineering teams. You will be based on site but will sometimes need to visit other office locations and client sites when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the Proposals function, including regional offices, in close collaboration with the sales team.
Review tender/enquiry documentation to facilitate effective 'bid/no-bid' decision-making.
Liaise with relevant internal and external parties to receive timely and accurate information/quotations for high-quality proposals.
Prepare accurate and competitive proposal documents using standard templates.
Ensure proposals are reviewed and signed off in accordance with current authorization levels.
Ensure proposals are clear, unambiguous, and protect the company's commercial and contractual position.
Attend project kick-off meetings to hand over successful proposals to the project execution team.
Coordinate and attend site meetings to survey/review client requirements, adhering to all necessary H&S requirements.
Notify senior management of any significant commercial, technical, or contractual risks associated with specific proposals.
Continuously improve quality and efficiency within the proposals team using feedback from project execution and close-out meetings.
Assist with developing quoting tools and costing spreadsheets to capture costs and scope, aiding project execution systems during project award and kick-off phases.
Maintain and update the Project Portal with follow-ups such as expected order date and competitive position.
Requirements
Understanding of the needs of the Technology SBU.
Technical understanding of MCCs, Switchboards, and Control Panels.
Ability to assess user requirements, scope of work, specifications, and design to qualify proposals.
Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with all sites and clients.
Strong organizational skills to handle unpredictable workloads and meet client deadlines.
Up-to-date knowledge of contractual arrangements and best practices.
Willingness to undertake annual performance reviews and participate in training courses.
Experience
Proven track record of estimating electrical/control panels and MCCs. (1 Year)
Skills and Knowledge
Technical knowledge of control systems, electrical/control panels, and MCCs.
Ability to understand and relate to client needs.
Ability to effectively meet client timescales.
Ability to estimate project costs accurately.
Strong communication skills at all levels within the organization and with clients.
